With funding support from the Government of Canada, the Canadian Council for Aviation & Aerospace (CCAA) is pleased to offer online Aircraft Structures Technician Basic Theory Training.
This program counts as an “acceptable” basic training program for Transport Canada licensing purposes. The program is completely online, available 24/7 allowing you to proceed at your own pace and at the times convenient for you. Except for the quizzes and tests, you can exit the training at any point and pickup where you left off when you next log in.
The structures program consists of approximately 582 hours of training in 55 courses. There is no fixed time for completion, you work through them at your own pace. The training follows a fixed path and as you complete one course, the next one becomes available. Completed courses remain available for you to revisit and review at any time.
Each course consists of activities, lessons, quizzes and finally a course test. Successfully passing the course test allows you to move on to the next course. Your final transcript will contain your test marks for each of the 55 courses, showing successful completion of the program. To maintain the integrity of the tests without a live proctor, the system requires use of a LockDown Browser and access to your webcam. You can read more about how this works in the attachment below.
The program is designed to allow you to be fully autonomous, but we have a helpdesk function should you experience any technical difficulties and coaches you can contact in the event of difficulties with any of the training material.
Some important points to note:
- This course does not include practical training. To sit the Transport Canada Licensing exams, you still must have a minimum of 36 months civil aviation maintenance experience, including completion of specific maintenance tasks tracked in a logbook and certified by a licensed AME.
- Successful completion of this course does not exempt you from taking the Transport Canada technical exam in addition to the regulatory exam.
The cost for the complete course is $3,900 payable in two annual installments of $1,950.00 plus applicable taxes.
The first installment is payable upon registration and the second payable in 12 months time.
